Located in the Serra de Tramuntana, in a spectacular valley with fruit trees, starting at the Puig Major (the highest point of the island) and descends to Sóller, you find the charming village of Fornalutx. This small village of only 700 inhabitants, is one of the most unique, picturesque and most visited villages of Mallorca. Due to its extraordinary natural beauty and the perfect conservation, Fornalutx has received several awards and recognitions. Also, it is a village dedicated to agriculture, especially to the cultivation of oranges and olives. This is why you find ample vegetation in all terraces and gardens, and the rest of the valley of Sóller.
The history of the town has always been connected with the history of the neighbor Soller. Both were united until 1837, this was the year when Fornalutx separated to be an independent municipality. The history of this town began more than 1,000 years ago, being an Arab estate. The population of the area began after the conquest. Fornalutx is located just five minutes from Soller and Port de Sóller, and about 20 minutes from Palma.
